There is no anonymous. They are nothing. The actual OG guys all got co-opted and hired by the Feds under threat of prison and the people who pop up on X once in a while are just copy cats with no power to do anything. They’re all talk.

Anonymous has been nothing but a buncha social media accounts LARPing for 15 years or so… real Anonymous mostly got swept up by Army with some ultradoxxing algo and forced to either convert to fed or go to prison.

Anonymous isn’t an organization and really has never been one in the sense you guys think.

It’s more of an ideology, in where anyone can be Anonymous who share the values.

The original group was infiltrated long ago by FBI, with many apart of the org arrested back in 2009-2012. ( over 100 arrests. )

Most of what you in the past decade are just people making empty threats using the name anonymous.

Their last real operation was probably 2012-2013. Anything sense than has been hackers using the name more so as a call to arms to other hackers for assistance. Like the 2022 anon attacks on Russian internet and gov websites.

They aren’t very reliable. It’s something we need to resolve ourselves.

The first generation of „The Anonymous“ got caught, if I remember correctly somewhere in 2015. They got their start around the time 4chan and Wiki leaks started and 2nd generation ‚the impersonators‘ started during Snowden NSA leaks back in 2013. It’s possible it’s all the same group. But it’s possible it’s 2nd generation that got caught. While there was some activity later than 2015, it wasn’t their modus operandi.

    7. forget anonymous org

where are north korean hackers they were so good in hacking SONY to distract and disturb release of that movie.

      unless anonymous synonymous mosadmous

    8. Anonymous is an idea, and as an idea it cannot be killed. The OGs were caught, as has already been said here.

The new generation is no longer interested in defending the population—they only care about money, power, and luxury, because that’s what they’ve been fed through social media.

I swear this gets asked every few days like Anonymous was some type of hero for the people.

Anonymous was several hacking groups who just exploited known security flaws in existing IT infrastructure.

Go back 10 years at the height of the Anonymous security breaches and you’ll also see that IT security at the time was incredibly relaxed.

There was a reluctance from IT professionals to install security updates onto core computer networks out of fear that they would inherently break something, and it was a common thing to occur.
Additionally newer versions of server operating systems closed a lot of the security holes anonymous would exploit subsequently defanged their collective as whole..

Anonymous didn’t disband as they never were a sole group, just several groups that exploited known poor security measures that lost their toys when those known holes were patched..

They basically just walked into open gates and were useless once someone locked the gate.

Didn’t epstien start /pol on 4chan? Idk why you think there would be heros in a alt right cesspool

The real answer if you actually look through the files was that they were working for JE. He went to Defcon and was employing and paying these guys. Provable fact

Most of anon leaders went to jail/ were charged with crime. Hacktivism has changed wildly since those early days mainly due to improvements in cyber security. It’s not that it’s too hard to hack, it’s just you are more likely to get caught now. It’s not that it doesn’t still happen, it’s just way more risky and not as lucrative as deploying ransomware.

    14. The 2016 election set off an internal schism in Anonymous with members split between helping Trump or digging up dirt on him. They aren’t the size or influence they used to be

    15. Why don’t any of these groups hack into credit card companies and wipe everyone’s debt clean out lol

    16. Relevant-Bluebird-63 on

Stopped following them after 0 follow through on any of the threats they promised. It’s fake if you ask me, probably Feds or leftist Soros funded goons

    17. BrocoliAssassin on

Do you think they are a magical hacking group that just knows the address of where to find all the files to hack and clicks hack to hack everything???

I see this everyday..like people think wikileaks and anonymous have access to everything on earth where everything is just a keystroke away for them to hack the world.

    18. Sassy-irish-lassy on

Some guy „hacked“ Sarah Palin’s email by simply guessing her password hint, and then a bunch of LARPers calling themselves anonymous pretended they were responsible for that. That’s literally the only thing you can really tie to anonymous, and it was most likely just one guy messing around for fun.

    19. 17_shxt_pipedup on

The original members were all co-opted, jailed, or killed. The accounts surfacing on social media over the last few years are simply people LARPing, lacking the actual muscle to do anything of use.

Who? Where? When? Haven’t seen anonymous in forever. Our only hope is we get a whistleblower who sends everything they have unredacted and blasts it all over to every small journalist they can find. No telling if this hasn’t happened already but they sent it to Fox or whoever and it disappeared. Needs to be blasted everywhere quickly before it’s scrubbed, and that person needs to run.
I think there will be someone, and I continue to wish them courage and safety.

I’ve been wondering this for awhile now. The explanations in the thread make a lot of sense. Thank you for the answers.

it was a meme people would use to make the harassment of scientologists feel more exciting. it’s not meant to be a real thing.
