I foresee Jelly Roll and Beyoncé nominated for the Contemporary Latin Album Grammy

Country music foresees reduced market share. Co-opting patriotism may not work anymore.

    >The country singer also alludes to Jelly Roll’s Grammys speech in a candid social media post: “I saw a guy talk about Jesus, and then I saw Bad Bunny talk like Jesus”

Say it once more and twice as loud for the “Christians” who support ICE

  4. The way country music is written and performed now it will be one of the first genres to see a huge rise in entirely AI made music.

Hell yeah he’s right. Especially with all this pop country thats hot garbage. That’s one of San Benito’s finest to ever do it right there!

  6. I just checked him out on Spotify, makes good music and I’m not even a big country music listener

Sucks that Charley isn’t mainstream yet. Man pumps out great works after great work

There goes his entire career… maga only rewards those who get out the knee pads and fellate the cult.

I mean as much as country fans would hate to admit it, modern country is already just hip hop with an acoustic guitar, so why not?

Oh? You mean American values aren’t obsessively centered around tractors and moonshine?

Was so lucky to walk into Crockett’s set at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in 2022. By myself, before friends showed up, and happy I did.

  12. Country music used to stand for something, but now it’s a bunch of pandering from millionaires about how much they like to drink or how much they love their trucks.

Country songs used to be about the broken justice system (The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia), anti-war protests (Jimmy’s Road), women in the workplace (9 to 5), and even reproductive rights (The Pill). Meanwhile one of the country singers at the alternative halftime show yesterday sang about hating trans kids.

I’ve seen Charley twice now and he’s one of the few putting out real country music

Alt country is doing fine but people just don’t listen to the artists enough

This man puts out some amazing actual country music. Love the dude. Gotta get him with Dolly for a song.

I saw him open for Orville Peck at Red Rocks a few years ago and he was great! Brought so much fun and energy out of the crowd

Maybe Country Music shouldn’t have spent the past 30 years positioning itself as the music of the suburbanite, makes $125k at their contracting jobs spending their weekends at the lake in their $80,000 oversized pickups while trying to claim they’re “roughnecks” because they drink shitty light beer and love Murica so much and are somehow victims of “the struggle” because they have to share space with Trans and Black people and instead just kept being the, y’know, music of the hard working man like it was back when it found its resonance with the actual working class person.

Charley is a real one. My favorite act in country right now. Can’t wait to see him in March.

“They keep saying I’m a cosplay cowboy but they love a cosplay president,” he wrote. “The President is a grifter who bankrupted 6 casinos.

That’s pretty extraordinary considering it’s a rigged business in favor of the house. The only thing he’s good at is filing lawsuits and portraying a successful business man as a reality TV actor.

Last time I checked Elon Musk was an immigrant from South Africa but there he is standing in the White House buying our elections. Let’s deport his ass.”

He added that far-right billionaire investor Peter Thiel should join him since, “they both openly believe in a post democratic society where men of their class are above the law.”

  20. Possible_Cap_4332 on

It should but it could never. The core tenet of country music is I’m not like everyone else, I struggle, and anyone who doesn’t look like the me should be excluded.

  21. Yep – have one of them do, “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” in Spanish. 🤔

  22. If country music improves and changes, we’ll still get the same crap now also, it’ll be rebranded or re-genred as Patriot music
