Ok so lots of comments about deleting and needing to leave the platform, but when I read the article it sounds like private servers and DM’s won’t be affected anyway? This is only for very large community type servers?
Guys, there is a very good platform known as Stoat (formerly Revolt), which is a much better, open-source version of Discord. If you are going to leave Discord, support them Stoat devs.
Edit: I also remembered that Rootapp exists as an alternative as well, but I’ve never tried it myself so can’t vouch.

No web site will get a copy of my ID. I refuse to take part in that level of corporate or government intrusion just because absent parents can’t control their children’s online time.

And then next year or so, we’re going to hear about Discord’s database being hacked and IDs/Face scans of users were leaked. It never fails.
This is coming after they had a [huge data breach just a few months ago](https://www.malwarebytes.com/blog/news/2025/10/discord-warns-users-after-data-stolen-in-third-party-breach), which included user’s Government ID information used for age authentication.
Didn’t Discord just have issues with the IDs being exposed in a breach? I highly recommend no one upload any kind of ID / biometric.
