How Mukbang Videos Affect Mental Health
A new experiment is the first to test the effects of Mukbang on mental health.
Mukbang videos show people eating a vast amount of calorie-rich foods.
Watching a Mukbang led to reduced eating disorder symptoms yet also reduced positive mood.
Short-term exposure to Mukbang may not be as harmful as previously thought.

Most Mukbang creators don’t actually eat the food though. It’s pretty evident there’s some creators out there with body types that in no way correlate to what they consistently post themselves eating. Watch their videos, they chew and chew but cut to the next clip before they actually swallow.
It was originally a way to alleviate loneliness. It was supposed to be like eating lunch or dinner with a friend who chats about their day.
What it became is very far from its origins.

So I can watch videos of people eating and I’ll be fine?
