Andrew Egger and Joe Perticone give their takes on the growing wave of House Republicans announcing their exits as the midterms approach. They break down why Nevada Rep. Mark Amodei and others are heading for the door, how Trump’s iron grip over Congress has made life miserable even for Freedom Caucus hardliners, and why the prospect of being in the minority is driving GOP members to run for the hills.

Cowards. They got their bag now are jumping ship instead of bilging.

Remember that they aren’t leaving because of principles. Their party is going to get slaughtered in the midterms so why put up with that? I am sure all of these former senators and congressmen have found nice cushy lobbiest jobs for themselves.

30 is a good start. Only 188 more to go.

Takes 6 years to replace the entire congress. Let’s do that

Hopefully, they trounce their 2018 record of 34 retirements… 🤞

They’ll all go into lucrative jobs in the private sector and will be excused for enabling what’s happening. All of us will likely end up working for or buying things from a company they are a board member of. There will be no consequences and they know it.

This is the most we can expect from politicians. When you can’t do the right thing then resign so others could.

Trump obviously inspired such loyalty amongst his party

There’s also something like 20-21 Democrats leaving as well. A lot of work to do to fill all those seats.
And still to cowardly to stand up to Trump on their way out the door.

Elise Stefanik was going to both defend her seat and run for governor, then dropped out of both races.

So … they’re 30 gutless Republican losers too scared to tell Trump to get fucked, and now they are running away. Not really surprised.
America has to fight hard to replace as many of them as possible with sensible Democrats that will fight for you. It feels like given recent state election outcomes from deep red areas turning blue, that the tide might be turning …

This headline is designed to mislead you. Over 20 dems are also not running for re-election. Fuck these headlines, get out and vote

They’re not leaving because they suddenly sprouted a conscience, they’re leaving because they’re cowards who don’t want to face the consequences of their actions. If they had one atom of integrity in their useless skin suits, they would impeach and remove these traitors. Instead they’re cashing in their chips and running away.
