*The world* she says. So Lithuania expected some kind of reward, I guess from the US, but all the *China mongering* is put aside when it comes to business.

That is hilarious.
No one cares for virtue signalling apart from University activists, and even there a lot of them have a soft spot for “ communist“ China.

They’re gonna end up being textbook material for political science or international studies, and not the right kind.

Lithuanians on Reddit must be like 12. They seem to honestly believe that Taiwan is going to invest billions of dollars into their country and make them rich. It is crazy.

2016 election of Trump = worsened US-EU relations. Talks about moving away from US because its not trustworthy as a country.
2020 elections of Biden talks about normalization of US-EU relations. Talks about gestures what European Union can do to show support for US and normalize relations from our side.
2020/2021 Lithuania- Taiwan situation. Lithuania show support for the country that US pledge to defend.
EU with their statements shows support for Lithuania
[Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin’s Remarks on Joint Letter by Presidents of Two EU Institutions on Taiwan-Related Issue Concerning Lithuania in Response to Letter by Some European Legislators](https://cy.china-embassy.gov.cn/eng/fyrth/202110/t20211030_10404355.htm?utm_source=chatgpt.com) They stated that Lithuania’s move does not breach the EU’s one-China policy and rejected pressure aimed at EU member states
If your understanding of all of it is that Lithuania all by themselves took the initiative and did the stuff they did with no talks no approval from anyone else liek EU. Then you need a political education!
Reality is that Lithuania acted as a vector trying to show the US that EU has no intention of moving closer with China because we love the US ^(„oh we love them so much“). So EU has plausible deniability and if it all fails then…
EU-Chinas relationships didint damage to much. Lithuania got all the damage negativity and that is fixable and relationship is recoverable. Economic damage will be restored.
So EU will help to normalize Lithuanias-Chinas relations. Lithuania will remove the Taiwan Representative Office we will get a pretty good deal to restore the economic damage we did with that decision with that gesture.
Taiwan is the only losing party in all of this. If i were Taiwan i would be very very scared. GG
