    1. I don’t believe this is real for Portugal, I believe most people would say French

The title is slightly misleading. The map is about „which NEW language would you like to learn?“ as the majority of people answering this question knows English (and/or French /German depending on country).

English is so pervasive it’s not even considered a new language to learn

    4. Smells kinda bullshitty, I’m hungarian and noone I know ever mentioned wanting to learn spanish. In hungary most of us learn english and german, but it’s rare that one learns both at a competent level.

      I certainly didn’t, granted I didn’t even take german, I took russian which I can’t speak either.

I think almost all german-speakers would want to learn english and vice versa. Spanish may be the most popular not counting english and german, but if those 2 are in the game ain’t no way spanish is more popular.

    5. In Wales, the most popular language among adult education learners is actually Welsh, as people in the post-industrial east of the country try to make up for not having been taught it in school prior to it becoming a mandatory part of the curriculum several years ago.

    6. Native Spanish speaker here and recently wanted to learn Polish.

Seems like I have good chances of getting a language partner!

It’s proven that Hungarian is the holiest sacredest language because Hungarians don’t want to learn another language.
