It’s repugnant that the provincial government, helmed by Doug Ford and the PCPO at large, financially atomises hospitals in this way. The province has the opportunity to act as a consolidated entity to fund healthcare en masse – if nothing else then to at *least* access equivalent funding at better rates – and it chooses not to, because they would rather advertise themselves with a nicer number than a healthier population. Doug Ford and the PCPO effectively embezzle federal health transfers, utilising the transfer as a form of income against which they proportionally reduce provincial funding for healthcare.
Healthcare is one of our greatest expenditures by volume, but it has to be; it’s the cost of maintaining human life, the lives of workers and artists and friends and families. It’s the cost of life existing on this planet.
Doug Ford and the PCPO are manufacturing a funding crisis in order to privatise Ontario’s healthcare system.
