A former work colleague (a social worker) went there to open up an ad hoc day care back then. She showed me photos afterwards. The stories she told me afterwards were far worse than anything reported in the media during that time. And still she was approached daily by the people living in that area (or those helping them) to make sure she was alright and offer her help in finding food or shelter.

Let’s hope that more resilient structures will replace those which collapsed, that is the best thing to honor the memory of the people who lost their lives so brutally..
