I see no issues with this.

This is called leveling the playing field.

Sucks that we have to lower ourselves to dirty Republican tactics.

But they leave us no choice.

In 2026 Republicans deserve zero representation. No redeeming value to American society at this point. No chance of redemption.

I live in Southeastern VA. Big Trump country here. This is all I’m going to hear about this weekend at the Super Bowl Parties, and I’m going to have a really hard time not laughing in their leopard-eaten faces.

I’ve been asking for years what happens when the pendulum swings and we Dems get the benefit of everything they’ve done to consolidate power and freeze out bipartisanship, only to be met with blank stares or gloaty bullshit. So, while I love to see this for the GOP, my questions remain.

  6. Perfect.

If Republicans don’t like it, they can agree that every state enact districting by independent commissions that are reviewable by another 3rd party to verify that districts are not gerrymandered in any way and are drawn up to reflect the state population equally and without prejudice.

  7. I think it was the ~~South~~North Carolina GOP that, when asked why their map skewed something like 13-4 in favor of GOP when the state’s vote was 52-48, and their answer was „because we couldn’t find a way to make it 14-3.“

They’ve been unashamedly doing this openly for over a decade.

I don’t *like* that this is what our democracy has become. But I’d rather see the Democrats fight back like this than to keep having our elections stolen.

  8. Everywhere, fuck them over everywhere. Illinois can erase a GOP seat too. But JB Pritzker is hesitating because he’s just a kind person who doesn’t want to do anything unethical. Fuck that. Fuck the rural Republicans of Illinois. They want to gerrymander, then fuck them. Chicago will decide who gets elected in this state.

I just hope once the leader of the circus dies and congress is gerrymandered to its maximum some sane people can get together and fix the system so it’s actually fair. Will never happen of course because you’re asking for people to make their job harder

The game on the table is gerrymandering. You have to play the game on the table, not the game you want to play.

Gerrymander the shit out of blue states. We can fix the rules later, but this is the game on the table.

  11. Beautiful. The GOP’s recent gerrymandering push accomplished the exact opposite of what they intended.

It is anti-democracy to allow a rogue, authoritarian, anti-democracy party controlled by billionaire pedophiles to exist in any number.

The less republicans have control of any levers of power, the more democratic our system is. The entire party needs to be dissolved and its existing members banned from every participating in politics of any form, even lobbying or media.

  13. Just because a previous area was won by the red team doesn’t necessarily mean that it won’t flip to blue.

  14. The only way to get Republicans to come around to a national gerrymandering ban is to punish them. CA needs to be gerrymandered to 52-0.

My solution is not effective and simple…but maybe we just do a one person-one vote kinda thing?
Maybe toss in a little ranked choice voting to kill the two party system?…

    Just spitballing here.

If you have a problem with this, then push for reform and end partisan gerrymandering. Until then, democrats gotta do what they gotta do

Listen love him or hate him this is real proof that Newsom was able to create a nationwide movement that is actually fighting back just by setting an example from Sacramento. It makes me excited about what he can do from Washington (even

This is what happens when you don’t think things through and underestimate your opponent. I’m thrilled to see it. Well done Virginia, well done.

Great. If they’re going to ignore the Constitution it’s our duty to screw them over in any way possible.

  20. Kindly-Ad-5071 on

Let’s keep this train rolling. Force them to admit why this is a problem. Ruin their credibility.

  21. I think every state that Dems control needs to change the districts to favor themselves. AND then every 2 years change them again, just keep on doing this and when anyone challenges them hold up a map of a Texas and say because fuck you that’s why.
The Republican voters all across America, not just in Texas, are too corrupt to care when Texas was alone in wanting this in a non-census year, so they can eat shit.

  22. icebergslim3000 on

Gerrymandering will ruin our democracy but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire

  23. CarAlarmConversation on

We really need to force voting districts to be drawn by independent redistricting committees nationally, but it will never happen. Republicans started it but all this really leads to down the line is shittier representation, but I guess this is the best we can do right now.

  24. Bob_the_peasant on

I don’t know why people whine so much about the democrats doing this.

Imagine an NFL team like the Patriots (no reason) started shanking the opposing team. Just blatantly pull out knives and win every game. Refs say it’s fine. Are you really going to be like “well at least the Vikings don’t cheat, hah! Gottem!” Or are you going to be like “hey why don’t you bring an axe?”

And the cool part about winning this “Super Bowl” is that the winner gets to change the rules if they win it by enough points. So if you care so much about the morality or optics or whatever – win big and make it illegal. And enforced.

I would strongly support the nationwide elimination of political gerrymandering. Until then, this is the way. Good job, Virginia Democrats!

  26. MasonDinsmore3204 on

Maybe if republicans get mad enough we can finally pass a law banning gerrymandering altogether

  27. PlatypusOld257 on

Politicians shouldn’t be able to pick their voters. However if one side is doing it more than go for it. Gerrymandering should be banned on a federal level.
