RTE article says several seriously injured and one person appears fatally injured.

    2. Expecting the government response to be mandatory high-viz vests for pedestrians

That is terrifying to think, I hope everyone is safe. Not looking good though.

Don’t worry lads some cunt on X is already speculating about the drivers ethnicity

Immediately my mind went back to that awful accident on the quays in the early 2000s. Hope everyone is OK. 😔

All the racists I know are now trying to sniff out the ethnicity of the driver. Because that’s what’s important. Absolutely mortified for them.

It’s been a while since I’ve been there, is North Earl Street only open to buses now or is it fully pedestrianised?

Probably going to be roasted for this but it’s completely normal for people to talk and ask questions when an exceptionally tragic event occurs. It’s human nature

My thoughts are with those involved. May the injured have a speedy recovery.

    10. Quote from Bus Eireann on the indo

      > It said the bus „was not in service at the time“.

    11. Is this not the third fatal incident involving Bus Eireann buses in recent months? Perhaps it’s a shitty coincidence but three is a lot for any workplace in such a short space of time.

I’d have questions for what’s going on in Bus Eireann.

    12. I get the 103 (the route of the bus involved ) regularly.

Before they enter service, they wait at the bridge by Connolly Station.

From there they usually go up Talbot and left at Marlborough, then around Abbey down to Beresford Place, the first point of call.

This is just an awful awful accident caused by a medical episode.

There is of course horror and sadness over the one person dead.

There is a slight bit of luck that the bus itself was empty and more weren’t hurt.

Thoughts are with those affected. Just a terrible day for the city.

    13. Do we really need to make this shite about race or even mention the topic in such a tragic scenario. Fuck me, can people leave this shit out during such a tragic event.. 🙄

I hope it wasn’t negligence, maybe the driver had a medical emergency. Awful situation, makes you not take life for granted

    15. Retractable bollards that protect pedestrianized streets would have saved lives here. They have them on the continent. They retract for authorized vehicles (police, delivery drivers etc). It also prevents terrorist attacks like ones that happened in france where a driver goes down a pedestrianized street to kill people. I actually sent a email to the council years ago that it would be wise to have these installed on our main pedestrianised streets for this reason but I got no response.

    16. Absolutely horrific accident. Power in the entire area has been cut and traffic is nuts and the line Luas is shut down that street as well.

Was there when it happened, thought the bus looked like it was going a bit too fast for the turn and then it just went right through a lamppost and into a group of people. It was horrifying.
