Turns out theyre not nerds but Risk taking (maybe too Risk taking) enterprenurs
Assuming that they were doing it for Canada to use, this is the very definition of “fuck it, I’ll do it myself” in terms of building up the military.
If they actually were developing anti drone technology for our armed forces, that’s great. I hope that’s shown and reflected in the investigation and they are given funding to continue that research.
If they are lying, throw the book at them.

3 guys try to help defend Canada, Canadian government throws the book at them. They should have built bombs for ISIS, the government wouldn’t have touched them.
This is going to be a political case. Free them. Same goes to gun buyback. Timing is just bad.
If they did it to help the Canadian military in anticipation of any potential war conflict, they are heroes not criminals.
Give them funding and proper facilities to make the development. We need more risk-taking and entrepreneurial folks like them!

I totally get they are trying to do “the right thing” however illegally carrying and concealing a hand gun automatically makes you a criminal unfortunately.
