Die Behauptung von US-Präsident Donald Trump, sein russischer Amtskollege "hielt sein Wort" indem sie eine Woche lang keine Massenangriffe mit Raketen und Drohnen gegen die Energieinfrastruktur der Ukraine starteten, stieß in Kiew auf Verwirrung und Bestürzung.
"Ich glaube, das ist entweder eine Verhöhnung unseres Unglücks, mangelndes Verständnis der Situation oder Wunschdenken." Volodymyr Ariev, ein Abgeordneter der Oppositionspartei Europäische Solidarität, sagte gegenüber dem Kyiv Independent.
Die verwirrende Saga eines angeblichen Waffenstillstands in Bezug auf Angriffe auf die Energieinfrastruktur begann, als Trump am 29. Januar überraschend ankündigte, dass der russische Präsident Wladimir Putin zugestimmt habe, eine Woche lang keine Angriffe auf ukrainische Städte durchzuführen.
Bezeichnenderweise mangelte es ihm an Einzelheiten, er gab jedoch keine Hinweise darauf, wann oder ob er begonnen hatte, und hinterließ viele Lücken, die der Kreml schließen musste, was er umgehend tat, indem er sagte, der Waffenstillstand würde nur Kiew betreffen und nur bis zum 1. Februar dauern.
In der Nacht vom 3. Februar startete Russland den bisher größten Massenangriff des Winters und belastete die Energieinfrastruktur der Ukraine weiter, als die Temperaturen unter -20 Grad Celsius (-4 Grad Fahrenheit) sanken.

Foolish to trust either one of them. Although Ukraine must continue to pretend otherwise and maintain dialogues, I’m sure they are aware of this and prepare accordingly.
