      I remember when the Washington Post was a respected institution. I feel bad for the actual journalists left there who are trying to keep it from completely turning into a rag controlled by a spineless billionaire who got lucky a quarter century ago.

      The casual international news coverage in the US is already piss-poor.There’s some good stuff in the New York Times but I wonder how many clicks it gets. Most people in the US don’t care and anyway they wouldn’t be able to point the country in question on a map.

      But hey, Number One!

      Rich people buying out institutions and then breaking them shouldn’t be allowed. Bezos could float them with the dividends he makes taking a shit.

      Impressive that they managed to write an article about the Washington Post layoffs without mentioning how their readership and subscriptions have absolutely cratered in the last few years. As if the two might somehow be vaguely related…
