      This is all silly. If some Albertans want to separate and join the United States, they should be allowed to hold that opinion. Calling it treason just seems like sour grapes to me.

      No. Taking a chunk of a countries land and population and separating it from the rest of the nation is treasonous. You can handle it respectfully and even concede if there is a genuine sentiment amongst the majority, but that doesnt make it not treason.

      I don’t remember all this separatism-is-treason rhetoric flying around when Quebec was discussing it. I wonder why not?

Part of me truly wonders if the separatists meeting with US officials are really motivated by ideology/the prospect of Trump taking over Canada… Or are just motivated by grift – really getting harder to distinguish the two in MAGA conservatism, as there’s just so much money to be made when you reach the upper echelons of MAGA/Maple MAGA notoriety.

      Awfully bold of people to throw around the word treason. Like the government hasn’t committed that five times over in the past five years.
