      Social media was fine before the introduction of algorithms. I agree limiting social media in this day in age is needed as it’s clearly gotten out of control and is more of a propaganda tool than it is a social platform.

      My cousin lives outside of Barcelona. I visited two years ago and was riding the train into the heart of Barca. I distinctly remember two girls in their late teens who spent the entire 45 minute ride speaking to one another and neither of them pulled out a phone at any point. As a New Yorker I found that almost unbelievable and thinking that they doing something right with the kids around there.

      I hope Canada moves forward with social media curbs. But not just for kids. It’s the 40+ people who can’t figure out they are being manipulated by Facebook. And they can vote.

      The US is living through a social media crisis and unfortunately we have learned about it far too late. The dinosaurs in office have no idea what’s going on and what to do so we will all continue to hate each other online and be radicalized by mainstream news and aggressive algorithms

      If ad companies know they can’t reach a certain demographic in certain places, they simply won’t spend money on that demographic anymore.
