While I don’t think Korea should abolish inheritance tax completely, I do think we should index the threshold for tax free gifting amounts to account for inflation.
The current limit is unreasonably low.
The inheritance tax between husband and wife I just don’t get. Nuclear families work together to make their saving usually. It’s their money together but if one dies, the other has to pay taxes on the money they basically already had access to. Seems odd to me.
Reform to rationalize or to make it easy?
