Look at this on the bright side. If the GDP shrinks, that’s a bit less needed to spend on NATO! /S

Carney better call that election soon before all this bad news piles up.

Makes sense. I sell tech into Canadian enterprises and it seems like every company is just on hold from buying anything that isn’t absolutely essential

An economy of selling condos that are slightly larger than a prison cell?
What else is?

What!? I thought Carney was an economic genius?!
Oh, he was also “the best guy for the job” for getting a favourable deal with the US.

We’re in the middle of a trade war with our biggest trading partner. Stalled is probably the best case scenario.

Given that population is shrinking faster than that that means GDP per capita is going up. Every person who said that GDP growth doesn’t matter, only per capita, should be coming out of the woodwork to say how this is good actually.

Get used to the „economic pressure“ Trump said he’d impose in Canada to get us to join the USA, it’ll be here for as long as MAGA is around

We are still not in a recession though, right?

Well when your largest closest ally economically attacks you for a year….the same ally that is the largest economy on the planet. The results are not going to be positive

Billion dollars for buying guns no problem.

Wait is this a recession now?

I expect the economy to stagnate for a while due to the trade war and until the benefits of the new trade deals start kicking in.
The fed now needs to start strong arming projects in regardless of provincial protests in the name of national interest.

Thanks, Carney!

We’re in a recession but also in denial over it. Liberal times sure have been tough times.

I mean yeah, shouldn’t be a surprise.
Our largest trading partner and the current largest super power started putting tariffs on many of exports.
In addition, we have cut immigration massively.
Why would anyone expect GDP to increase?
