Stop the English channels stealing our top „TALENT“… Well the top talent was sacked last week or sorry reshuffled
400,000 for being the most embarrassingly inept at telly is a bargain in fairness. People can’t make it here that’s why they go anywhere else and be really good at it.
Pat Kenny was paid almost a million during the Celtic Tiger. That is crazy. Presenters are paid nowhere near that now. Pops to Kevin, I’m glad to see they’ve got pay under control.

Brendan O’Connor still gets €250k per annum for 4 hours of radio output a week.
I can’t understand how someone like Brendan O’Connor was able to negotiate such a high salary – most self published podcasts have a better manner on their shows.

My favourite was Marian Finucane getting 300k for 4 hrs of radio a week.
a little bit out of control, the same way the country has a little housing issue and US companies use us to avoid a little bit of tax…
Well, we can all agree on that.
More power to you if you can get that or more in the private sector, but then kindly fuck off and let another presenter do the public job.
Journalists crowing in the paper how they made RTE and therefore are worth more than the cap can go and shite – the countless hours of free publicity on the website andthe Guide and being on the biggest station in the country at a prime time is the main thing driving your good listenership figures, and it never hurts to remember that
Pay needs to be connected to market competitiveness or audience draw.
Tubrity leaving showed presenters don’t draw the audience as much as a time slot does and that there isn’t as many opportunities out there as some RTE presenters likely let on during wage discussions.
The argument was that they didn’t want their “talent” poached. By whom? The y had no profile int he UK and TV3 were paying Vincent Browne 50-60k for 5 shows a week. It was outrageous and it still is if we’re honest.
