I don’t know what’s more insane: That this happened or that we seemingly haven’t learned a thing from it.

Oh good! Nothing says *‘never again’* like a remembrance trip sponsored by a defence minister who tries excusing a genocide in real time. Auschwitz as a branding exercise: solemn photos, moral posturing, zero reflection. Apparently the lesson for ‘young people’ is that genocide is horrific – unless it’s happening now, to the wrong people, with the right allies. History as a backdrop, conscience as an optional extra.

Having Theo Francken there, who has expressed vocal support for a genocide happening today, kinda undermines the whole point of this (important) excursion.

So why invite him, as opposed to a Holocaust/genocide scholar for example?

    4. Replace Jews with Muslims and so many right wingers will turn a blind eye again or even actively support it.

No one going to mention that N-VA has quite open connections with the collaboration? Theo Francken went to Bob Maes‘ birthday ffs and recently claimed to have good connections with the Republicans in the US – you know, the party currently installing a fascist regime there.
