Keep your enemies close, getting information is key and Putin is definitely from the era of intelligence. Russia would’ve been stringing them along hoping for any useful information they let slip and maybe slipping a guy or two on the inside. Considering the grasp Israel and chumps had over the US – it would be expedient to do so.
