2014 failure?
Unfortunately it’s all talk. Ukraine is running out of steam. Europe isn’t stepping up. Europe keeps talking about “post war we are going to do so much”. But they know there will be no “post war” because they aren’t giving Ukraine the support needed to force Russia to come to the table.
As long as Russia stands more to gain by continuing the war than they do by making peace… there’s no way they are going to make peace. It’s that simple. The USA is busting its ass running around the world sanctioning everyone who buys Russian oil, running around like John Wayne capturing Russian oil tankers, toppling dictators who help Russia move oil,. Then Europe undoes it all by continually finding new creative ways to buy Russian oil and help Russia’s war backer… China
At this point I don’t even know what you do when Europe repeatedly undermines the defense of Europe. I feel horrible for Ukraine, but as an American this is starting to get Afghanistan vibes. I feel like we could be here another 10 years dealing with this, and all the death, and Europe will still be saying “yes but we still want Russian oil, and we still want to be friends with China even though they fund Russias war machine, so America and Ukraine you guys just need to find a way to make it work, we aren’t going to stop doing those things”.
What I really feel like doing is having America implement a no fly zone over Ukraine, tell Russia to back the fuck off and end this right now, and then America completely cuts all these “European powers” like France and Germany off permanently. Let them be friends with China I no longer want to be in an alliance with them… period. It’s just sad that Ukraine has to pay for their treachery, cowardice, and idiocy.
Let the real countries who aren’t willing to prioritize Russian gas/oil and Chinese trade over basic fundamental national security be our allies. Not France and Germany and these other pretenders who talk big talk but fund the Russian war machine out the back door. I’d rather have a tight knit group of allies who don’t help the enemy than a larger group that does.

That seems to be a big win for Ukraine. But it makes me think the Russians will just not agree to a ceasefire if such protections will enforce it.
Putin will continue to stall. The western alliance is crumbling by itself, we are all feeling a lot of strain. Things seem to be going his way, unfortunately.
Trump’s “Donroe doctrine”, and the way US officials are increasingly talking about “our hemisphere” and using force to shape their sphere of influence, is the exact same thing Putin is doing. The US actions in Venezuela are no different; it was just easier for the US to execute it than it was for Russia.
Well that lasted about 5 minutes…reports of more attacks…
Until Russia agrees to any of such proposals, it’s just another vain talk
