NGL their logo/mascot cracks me up every time. This chain might be the most MURCA thing ever and it is wonderful.

Been a long favorite fun fact of mine that Bama has the most Buc-ee’s outside of Texas.

I’m thinking that they’re expanding too fast via a „current meme“
IMHO they’re doing the shake shack model that has its roots in exclusivity.

For anyone else needing context:
> **Buc-ee’s Holdings, Inc.**, commonly called **Buc-ee’s**, is an American chain of country stores, gas stations, and electric vehicle chargers. It was created and is owned by Arch „Beaver“ Aplin III, and is headquartered in Lake Jackson, a city south of Houston, Texas. The chain was founded in 1982 in Clute next to Lake Jackson and established its first travel center in Luling, south of Austin, Texas, in 2003. The company began expanding outside Texas in 2018 with a location in Baldwin County, Alabama, and has since opened stores in ten states, with plans to open new locations in ten more
Been to the one in Colorado. It’s truly an experience I struggle to describe. I had no idea there were people like that in Colorado??? It’s like an overdose of pure red state culture injected straight in to your veins: MAGA, NASCAR, TEXAS!!!, folksy midwestern/southern rural, Obesity!!!, God/Guns/Guts and straight up unapologetic *Murica*.
But the food. oMG the Food! Holy shit I’d be 300 lbs if I ate there every day! I’ve never seen so much delicious, fatty, salty, incredible smelling food in my life.

I’m from the town where Buc-ee’s started. Went to school with Beaver Aplin’s daughter (we were not in the same social circles lol) and my parents are friends with his ex-wife. From what they’ve told me, she said he’s a real asshole. His political donations can be pointed to as evidence lol

Oh darn, they’re not expanding to my area.

I spent over 30yrs regularly driving from the Midwest into the south and have the bathroom horror stories to prove it. My feelings are that all these local gas stations and restaurants that didn’t keep their restrooms clean are now getting what they deserve, which is Buc-ee’s running them out of business.

Reminds me of a geography talk I saw years ago on how Wal-Mart spread before it was everywhere. Most new stores were founded in large urban areas, and then they expanded to smaller communities from each „hub“. The speaker’s conclusion: Wal-Mat spread like a disease.

I like stopping there on road trips with my dog. It has spots to walk dogs and free bags for doggie business. The gas is usually cheaper, and the bathrooms are very clean. And the ghost pepper jerky (from the counter, not the wall) and jalapeño cheddar summer sausage are worth the stop on their own.

You won’t convince me otherwise that their brisket egg burrito is fantastic. Plus, I do like their wide variety of flavored jerky. And the cherry on top, it’s a pretty nice place to take a dump on a road trip.

They’d do killer business in California if they put it in the Grapevine, just north of Tejon Pass. Or even farther north, closer to Fresno.

Put one in Gary, Indiana, cowards. Catch all the tourist traffic between Michigan and Chicago, in both directions.
