BYD is suffering from success. They’ve ramped up production and kept costs down but a lot of countries have banned imports because they’d be too market disrupting

I wonder what would happen if they were allowed to import them into the USA without all those ridiculous tariffs?

With the constant promise of better battery tech, solid state or otherwise, always around the corner, it’s no surprise that people don’t want to fork out for a car that could become obsolete a year after they buy it. That and the worry the electronics could be disabled due to a conflict with China. I think the smart move is to wait or buy a cheap 2nd hand.

i mean if they artificially were pushing sales in China, at one point you can not push more and the saturated market will bounce back.

I think for the rest of the world it seems like BYD is the main Chinese EV brand. But there are a myriad of Chinese EV brands and BYD is neither the cheapest nor the most luxurious one. I recall one of the more upscale one made me and some colleagues do a double-take.
