This one tidbit from the story seems very relevant.
Apparently Conservatives do not want an election soon. They believe the Liberals would get a majority.
Also, a possible spring election was part of the buzz at the convention, hence the additional backing of Pierre now, and the lack of QC/Atlantic delegates at the convention too which factored in.
Having this occur so soon after Carney’s Davos speech -where we saw dozens of well known conservative minded folks celebrating the impact of that speech – is certainly interesting.
