I do think he should move on. But I would not call the ending “amazing.”

  2. „George gave his story to somebody else and they ran with it and they {{ embarrassed him and anyone who worked on it or watched it with a nauseating train wreck }}. He’d be wise to say they {{ disgraced my life’s work }} and now I want to {{ live to see my legacy buried in a pile of shit }}.“

Mostly amazing job would be more apt. While I appreciate all those involved, the actors who gave their all, the crew who worked tirelessly to bring us the final two seasons, no one can genuinely say that the series ended well.

Though Martin 100% needs to hand ASOIAF to someone else.

  4. George said in an interview recently that he has about 1100 pages written and that he’s constantly re-writing. The obvious thing is to bring in a co-author. It’s so obvious.

  5. Just give it to Brandon Sanderson so he can knock the last two books out in a weekend and call it a day.

I’m still convinced Martin finished the book years ago, and it’s essentially the same ending as the TV show, and now doesn’t know what to do since everyone hated Bran being the King at the end.

The word amazing is doing in a incredible amount of heavy lifting in that sentence. The ending to a game of thrones is probably one of the most controversial and negatively received pieces of writing in recent times

I agree with Nesmith. It has an ending, George dictated the ending, and few think it ended well.

And that’s the problem. George has pages and those pages end with “who has a better story than Bran the Broken?” A poor ending that is currently blamed on someone other than George.

GRRM, and fans, would be happier if he announced “it just ain’t happening” and focusing his other work. WoW is never coming, everyone but GRRM knows it. Just accept it, dude.

  8. What GRRM needs is a co-author who isn’t intimidated by his ambition or him. The man is daunted/terrified by the amount of work and perfectionism that’s required, plus his ego is (justifiably in many ways) so huge that anything less than the greatest fantasy novel ever won’t cut it. Someone stepping in, cutting shit/bulking out what he can’t do at the clip he used to, making him stick to what he planned and refusing to back down would resolve all of this.
GRRM doesn’t wanna do this cuz he’s in love with his reputation as a solo author, tho.
