Well obviously this is gonna be the sentiment, with all our indigenous spending.

Good for the First Nations Chiefs. These treaties were established before Alberta was even a province and does override any potential deal these separatists try to throw out there.

I’d be laughing too when you look at how much money the feds give them.

Everyone should be laughing at the separatists, they are brainwashed by big oil companies & fairy tale promises

Combatting Alberta separatism by giving the middle finger to democracy is certainly a take.
Edit: to respond to the barrage of comments. I’m referring to the position described in the article that separation would be unconstitutional without the First Nation’s agreement. Of course they are allowed to voice their opinion. And they are allowed to have that opinion criticised.
Also this is not an endorsement of Alberta Separatism. I just think failing to support basic democratic principles is likely to help the separatist cause more than undermine it. If people feel they don’t have basic democratic rights in Canada because of the elevated status of the First Nation’s then they have a more legitimate grievance than just not liking it when the Liberals are in charge in Ottawa.

These separatists don’t care at all about the First Nations treaties because the separatists have zero foresight.
They’re just useful idiots to the USA.

Good for the FN chiefs. Alberta separatists are not just laughably moronic. They are also treasonous.

You can’t be independent and also subjugated by the USA.
