Sedition would be a much better word than Treason in this particular case.
Now that we have more than one group of seperatists. Who gets to be „The Separatists“ instead of <insert region name> separatists.

Lots of law terms have different definitions from the dictionary. This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone.

I’d be very hesitant to say calls for separation is criminal, although I’d be all for updating laws to harshly criminalize it if there is an element of foreign interference.
