      From the article:

      >President Donald Trump, his two eldest sons, and his family business sued the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Treasury Department over alleged leaks of their confidential tax information, court records showed Thursday.

      >The plaintiffs seek at least $10 billion in damages, according to the lawsuit in Miami federal court.

      >The civil complaint alleges that the IRS and Treasury failed in their obligation to prevent the leak of those tax records by former IRS employee Charles “Chaz” Littlejohn in 2019 and 2020.

      >In addition to Trump, the plaintiffs are his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, and the Trump Organization, which the sons run.

      >A spokesman for Trump’s legal team told CNBC in a statement, “The IRS wrongly allowed a rogue, politically-motivated employee to leak private and confidential information about President Trump, his family, and the Trump Organization to the New York Times, ProPublica and other left-wing news outlets, which was then illegally released to millions of people.”

      >“President Trump continues to hold those who wrong America and Americans accountable,” the spokesman said.

      >The suit was filed three days after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he had cancelled all of his department’s contracts with the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton in connection with the company’s contractor, Littlejohn, stealing and leaking confidential tax returns.

      >Littlejohn, 40, is serving a five-year prison sentence after having pleaded guilty in October 2023 to one count of disclosure of tax return information.

      >He admitted to leaking Trump’s tax records to The New York Times, and also admitted to leaking records about wealthy individuals to the news outlet ProPublica.

      >The news lawsuit says that Littlejohn, in a 2024 deposition, admitted disclosing “Trump information [that] included all businesses that he had owned” to the investigative news outlet ProPublica.

      >The suit asserts that ProPublica’s subsequent reporting on Trump’s tax documents falsely claimed that the records contained “versions of fraud.“

      TL;DR:

      Key Points

      * President Donald Trump, his two eldest sons and his family business sued the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Treasury Department over alleged leaks of their confidential tax information.
      * The plaintiffs seek at least $10 billion in damages, according to the lawsuit in Miami federal court.
      * “The IRS wrongly allowed a rogue, politically-motivated employee to leak private and confidential information about President Trump, his family, and the Trump Organization to the New York Times, ProPublica and other left-wing news outlets,” a spokesman for Trump’s legal team said.

    4. Why not just sue for 20 centillions? They can tell the defendant to throw the suit and done.

And just how did the leaks of his taxes harm him?

I guess $1.4 billion of grifting from the American public isn’t enough.

    6. Ha ha ha … that family laughs so hard at the stupidity of Americans. They are always the victim.

It’s time to get rid of them.

To prove $10 billion in damages, Trump needs to show the leaked information was false and harmed his reputation. Unfortunately for him, the information came directly from his IRS tax returns.
Claiming it’s false means admitting he filed fraudulent tax returns, which is a crime. He can’t have it both ways. Ether his tax returns were accurate (no false information was released), or they were fraudulent (he committed tax fraud). In either case, he has no legitimate damages claim.

Suing his own administration to steal more taxpayer money… most corrupt ‚president‘ in US history.

    9. AcanthisittaNo6653 on

Is he referring to the tax records that say he hasn’t paid federal taxes in years? Those tax records?

    10. The President of the United States suing IRS and the Treasury Dept?

Yep, just another day in Trump World.

    11. ShambolicRubel on

Taking money straight from the taxpayers, this should be a pretty easy commercial to run during the mid terms.

    12. CrimsonHeretic on

      Emoluments clause anyone?

I don’t think I can take this much longer. Every day this fascist regime rapes our rule of law and the Constitution.

    13. Steel-Tempered on

Since Scott Bessent is Trump’s Treasury Secretary and Pam Bondi is Trump’s AG, this will likely be free cash for the Trumps.

    14. SteamedGamer on

Ahem…all former presidents RELEASED their tax returns…and he’s suing to prevent this?

    15. Raspberries-Are-Evil on

He’s literally going to „settle“ with himself for $8 billion of tax payer money.

      Wow.

    16. Robbing us blind.

Time for a general strike, practice starts tomorrow. No work, purchases, or streaming.

We don’t pay federal taxes out of our checks if we aren’t working or buying things. If you don’t have mutual aid networks established by now in your area, don’t wait, do it now. The real general strike is coming and it won’t last just a day. The only way out of this is *through* and we’ll only make it with community support.

    17. The Trump family is the closest I’ve seen to the fucking O’Doyle family from Billy Madison.

    18. It’s time to start filing exempt on our W4s. I bet of a few million people did this it would get their attention

    19. westcoastxsouth on

Wait, you mean when he said on multiple occasions he’d release his tax records he was full of shit?

    20. TemporalColdWarrior on

He’s extorting us by extorting himself and rolling over. This is yet another impeachable offense.

    21. This is the shit where he gets to approve the payment. It’s master level fraud. Every Republican on the face of the earth is responsible for this illicit abomination.

    22. Suing the government that you are actively trying to destroy at the bidding of Putin. Donald Trump is a fucker. A fucking fucker who needs to fuck right off out of office. Impeach the fucker.

p.s. – this’ll prolly get deleted by the mods, yet I do not fucking care, read fast

He is stupid. His followers are stupid.

This shouldn’t be a a problematic thing to say with everything else we see.

This would mean they would STEAL $10B from the tax payers

    25. ChantilyAce on

Corrupt to the core, every one of them. I never would have imagined Americans could be duped en masse by such obvious cons. Wake up!!

    26. Jesus — those assholes have used up ALL of their lawsuit tickets. How much have they abused the legal system, it is outrageous

    27. This guy is robbing our country blind and his base is just too dumb to see it.

    28. danish_sprode on

Suing the country, which you preside over, for their tax payer dollars for your personal benefit doesn’t seem very America First.

    29. houstonyoureaproblem on

The President and his family are suing the government while he controls the government.

This absolutely must be prohibited going forward. That it’s not already is ludicrous.

    30. ClarityRocks on

Now this absolute rancid turd wants to profit off of cheating the United States his entire life.

He can’t be in the ground being eaten by worms quickly enough.
