      In my small Alpine valley they still talk about Hannibal’s elephants like it was yesterday.

    4. Henan at the central Chinese plain is literally called 豫 (elephant). So that yellow area should cover central China as well.

      That’s a very extensive range that I did not expect, but I’m more surprised that there isn’t more yellow around the edges of the red.

      And they were extensively used in Macedonia and Thrace? Really?
