Hallo zusammen, ich werde Georgia im Februar für eine Woche besuchen und würde mich über ein paar Empfehlungen freuen. Ich mag Berge, Natur und Roadtrips sehr und werde zunächst in Tiflis bleiben.
Bitte schlagen Sie kein Skifahren im Schnee vor, da ich das erst kürzlich gemacht habe und aus Großbritannien anreisen werde.
Ich habe für meine Woche in Tiflis auch ein Auto bei SIXT gemietet. Welche Fahrtipps und Parkregeln können Sie geben, um sich sicher fortzubewegen?
Welche Orte würden Sie empfehlen und welche lokalen Gerichte sollte ich dort probieren?

Given your interests, I’d head off to Svaneti for a few days. It’s a long drive, but there are points of interest on the way, and I’d suggest at least one overnight stop. That would fill in your week.
But personally, I have more cultural interests, and I’d spend more time in Tbilisi.

**About driving:**
– Since you’re renting a car, a quick note on winter travel: places like Svaneti are usually not a great idea in February if you’re driving yourself. Roads can be difficult and conditions change fast. If you really want to see that region in winter, flying with a local airline Vanilla Sky or going with a driver from Kutaisi or Zugdidi is much safer
– For driving in general, make sure your rental has proper winter tires. It makes a huge difference and saves you from dealing with chains. Driving in Tbilisi can feel chaotic at first, but it’s more careless than hostile. Watching what cars around you are doing helps a lot. And full insurance is very much worth it 🙂
– Parking in central Tbilisi is limited and mostly paid (0,3 euro for 1 hour). The city app “Parking Tbilisi” works well for hourly or daily parking. Again, because of how casually people treat cars, insurance really pays off here
– Inside the city, taxis are cheap and often easier than driving (it’ll cost around 3 euro for a trip inside the sity). A car is much more useful for trips outside Tbilisi
