Well, thank you Trump for that.

Europeans are finally opening their eyes.

As long as no business is made with Russia, let’s go Europe.

India has a great future ahead of it. This is clear. And Europe would like to join in. We need this.

I think the European strategy to be the grown-up in the room is playing out. We are closing new trade deals while the US is isolating itself and investors are shifting capital from the US to Europe.

If Mercosur serves as an example, I say that by 2051 a deal might be reached.

I’m fine with the deal but I’d like to point it out that Uschi sucks. No kudos to this piece of daughter of powerful parents.

    6. UK, Canada, South America, China, India – EU should work closely with all of these economies. Let mango stew in his cauldron of tantrums, tarriffs and isolation.

    7. India knows that we are in trouble, and will use this to squeeze us as much as possible. It would have been nice if our politicians made this deal when we still had more negotiation power.

    8. I expect more outsourcing then. I wonder what the plan for EU is. Surely even our politician and bureaucrats realize that if they want to keep having all those nice perks, some kind of economic activity has to be going on? Are we going to become a museum continent?

    9. FYI, Turkey overtook India on being the second largest russian fossil fuel importer with China currently at 48% , Turkey 21% , India 18% , EU 11%( most cause of EU being still the largest LNG importer from Russia) , i think India diversifying from Russian imports is mostly driven US tariffs on India and EU negotiations possibly cause of this deal, also recently Asia’s richest man and India’s biggest oil refinery has completely(said by a direct statement) halted Russia crude imports and many state/private are on their way to reduce russian fossil fuel imports, with crude currently standing at 25% (from peak 40% a few months ago) and Hydrocarbons fell by 30% in December, no country is more faster to reduce Russian reliance even giving that India is way behind these other nations like Turkey or China, it’s still trying to move from cheap Russian fuel given it still need to cater to 1.4 billion people.

Also India has significantly reducing from Russian arms and pivoting greatly towards France($62 B Dassault and Saffran deal and India also became largest arms market for France overtaking Russia’s position), Germany(upcoming $8 B AIP submarine deal) and Spain($2.5 B Airbus deal), and India is the largest European arms purchaser(close to Ukraine on that), India always tries to maintain a transactional relations with other countries.

    10. Yep, in this thread we’re all for ramping up capitalism to the max without social responsibility

Next one we’ll be shitting on people for getting rich from these global markets outscaling national governments again

Do people consider the actual results of these things, or do people just wanna wave the flags around a bit? I think focusing on closer trade with our neighbours over importing stuff from halfway across the world sounds more sensible from social and environmental sustainable perspectives. And maybe we shouldn’t cater to the already overpowering global companies that are rich enough to ignore western governments and corrupt undeveloped ones. Maybe it would be a better idea to restrict their growth so they don’t become dystopian. Maybe the sensible thing is, you know, if countries could supply their own essentials instead of taking the easy way out

    11. It seems as hot as Apple conference. Maybe they should adopt yearly updates and conferences to show what’s coming to EU’s law os?

    12. Von der Leyen: A big burly Austrian guy was in tears when he came to me and thanked me and said “Frau von der Leyen, Sie haben den besten Deal aller Zeiten unterschrieben. Den Deal aller Deals.“

    13. So with upcoming trade deals with South America, China, and India does Europe think they are going to sell enough luxury cars, purses, wines, and cheese in these countries to make up for their markets being flooded with cheaper imported goods?
