The headline is typical inflammatory fodder. Trump is lurking in the foreground of everything currently, not the background. He is an obvious motivator to the diplomacy being undertaken by all at this time.
If we get beyond the nonsensical headline pundits assess Canada and China had some mutual objectives one of which is stability in a trading partner, and the outcomes appear to forward this objective.
BTW. I had a thought about Trump’s off the cuff remark about „approving“ Carney getting „a deal“ with China. Trump is well down the dementia path, and in discussions elsewhere we have been musing where he is scoring on the Montreal Cognitive Test and the likelihood he is already scoring as moderately impaired. One aspect of moderate impairment is a fixation on certain trigger words.
Trump has always considered himself the king of deal making. It is a core aspect of his psychological makeup. I think when he hears the word „deal“ it triggers an automatic response. He also apparently has a favorable opinion of Carney. Putting two and two together I am musing that he heard „deal+Carney“ and his mind thrust out its simple response: Carney deal good.
The other more negative statements coming from the administration are the handlers working to adjust yet another errant message emanating from Trump to that which those handlers are trying to effect on behalf their corporate benefactors.

Trump is too focused on Greenland right now. We’ll be back in his focus in a couple months.

Not a success, it was an another capitulation of the three passports holder. Canada was humiliated but CBC cabal will never admit. Can’t wait for his next successful MOU.

I thought Trump was kind of impressed with Carney making a deal?
– Carney is showing how Trump is trying to use Tarrifs to work/starting on making deals.
With Trump saying Carney should be making deals with China.

It took Carney 8 months to actually accomplish something, and the media treats him like the reincarnation of Jesus. The great messiah came down from the heavens to save us from ourselves. All hail our great and powerful leader, who is incapable of making a deal with by far our greatest trading partner, amd greatest ally.
Wake up..
