‚Canceled‘ isn’t really a thing though.
You can pretty much do/say whatever you want, and as long as you ignore the internet rabble, you can continue as you were…
Didn’t snoop Dogg say some stupid shit a few months back and had *the internet* in a frenzy, he was effectively „cancelled“ then..
But I see last week he was presenting Amy Poehler with an award for best podcast at a „prestigious“ event, so he wasn’t really cancelled…
Jared Leto pretty much *exists* as „cancelled“ yet continuously clutching Disney fat paychecks.
You’re only cancelled if you believe you’re cancelled and think that *the internet* is reality. You can be the most hated individual *on the internet*, but still happily unaffected with a stable career *in reality*.
Manson is going on a pretty sizeable tour. Chris brown still makes bank, sure he only tours to pay for legal fees at this point but somebody is always there to bankroll shitty people. Cancelled doesn’t mean anything in the real world. Just online. Where nothing really matters.

He’s right in some respects. Brock Turner is only famous because he wasn’t punished appropriately. But he is so infamous now, I’m sure he wished he was sentenced his four years or whatever, instead of his (hopefully) lifetime of social disgrace.

Meanwhile poor people who go to jail for 18 months can never get a decent job again. But honestly I do feel bad for the rich people that will have to go back to being normal. I’m over here crying tiny tears just for them.

I think the most wild example was Morgan Freeman. There was a pregnant CNN reporter asking a question and Michael Caine asked if she was indeed pregnant. She said yes, and he thanked her for the clarification citing an incident in his past where he assumed someone was pregnant and they weren’t (thus making an ass out of himself) and Morgan Freeman quipped, „I wish I had seen that.“
The reporter took that phrase and twisted it, insinuating Freeman was saying he wish he had seen said reporter getting pregnant i.e. having sex. She then went on to start asking all the women in his life if he had been sexually abusive to them in anyway.
Now, he’s on Lioness lol.

I don’t think you can broad stroke this. He talks about using the word f*g when he was a kid and yeah, there were words that were used two generations ago that you can’t say today, and cancelling someone for admitting to that is just ridiculous. But sexual harassment or racism or bigotry against the LGBTQ community or in the case of Mel Gibson, overt anti-semitism are things that should get someone at least temporarily canceled. I also think you choose a public life when you become that rich and famous so thems the breaks.

I’m so tired of hearing these multi millionaires constantly complain about what usually amounts to backlash on the internet. Even those that actually get cancelled (fired or blacklisted) just have to wait a couple years until it blows over and they’re welcomed right back in (maybe with some side eyes). I mean the fucking president has dozens of allegations against his name for Christ’s sake

I kind of hate that term, “cancelled”. For the most part it’s just accountability that rich and powerful people aren’t used to. So they make up a term for getting caught and held accountable for their own actions.sure, sometimes I believe in second chances if the person is truly sorry but that depends on what they did.

All these celebrities whining about cancel culture just screams entitlement. For most of their adult life they felt entitled to treat anybody however they want. When they get called out for their behavior it shatters their ego and start victimizing themselves. If I sexually assaulted somebody, I would be charged, serve prison time, and be out of luck for any job for having a record. When louis c.k assaults someone, he just waits it out for a few years with his stacks of cash, and then after it all blows over lands a Netflix stand up special

All cancelled ever meant was to get yelled at on Twitter for a week until Twitter finds a new person to yell at.
Alright does getting cancelled suck? Yeah it probably does. But why are people blind to the fact that it’s just the cost of being famous now? Everyone is watching you… are you that dense to not recognize that? You can whine all day about how it’s not fair but it’s the way it is. If you don’t like it then don’t be famous.
