Creating a slush fund outside the purview of US law is extremely dangerous, blatantly corrupt, and illegal. I feel strongly that Democrats ought to make their platform centered on anti-corruption and self-dealing, with this story as THE headline example.

rump is sending funds from Venezuela oil to a bank in Qatar…The same Qatar who funds Hamas.

    3. Trump likely won’t live to see consequences for the corruption and theft, but his family members may and he funnels a lot of it through them.

This is sound financial management. Having money go in the Qatari accounts ensures there is absolutely no possibility of impropriety before it makes its way to its final resting place in the hands of Trump and co…

    5. Prediction: MAGA voters won’t hear about this, if they do they’ll ignore it, if confronted they’ll say it’s fine and you’re the idiot.

Imagine the absolute meltdown if any other president was moving foreign oil money through Qatari banks. The double standards are exhausting.

    7. It never ceases to amaze me how openly Trump displays his corruption. Anyone else would try to hide it somehow, but Trump says no, I’ll show everyone how corrupt I am. When the media criticizes him, he simply instructs the DOJ, his private law firm, to sue the journalists for a billion dollars, and peace is restored in America.

    8. Is this the same Qatar that’s going to build an airforce facility in Idaho?? /s

*Senior officials claim Gulf state provides neutral location to store proceeds from which they can be moved safely and without risk of seizure*

Risk of seizure from who? His own government?

More crime, zero consequences, GOP is complicit, and America is still in rapid decline.

    11. Trump family slush fund.

This should be impeachable, and in a normal country, it would be.

America first? After his favorite countries get theirs and he gets his…America gets maybe the leftovers. The $3 dinner.

This seems entirely bat shit crazy to me. The US military seizing assets and then the president sets up off shore accounts to hold the funds from the sale of the military seized assets. This is what’s happening right I didn’t read that wrong? Does this not seem, maybe a bit shady? Seems like the old noble prize extortionist here is taking a few too many liberties with the office.

    14. As their acting president, he can do whatever he wants. So what if he’s enriching himself through the resources of the US, it’s an official act! /s

It’s almost like this is a high crime or misdemeanor? Remember when those things mattered!? Oh what a day!

      > They justified the decision to hold some of the proceeds in the Gulf state, rather than in U.S. banks, by pointing out that it is a neutral location from which the funds could be freely and safely moved without risk of seizure

How is this an acceptable answer? Seizure by whom? Why wouldn’t they be safe in the US?

      > blocking courts or creditors from impounding any revenue

      oh…safe from…the law.

He probably thinks he gets to take Venezuela with him when he leaves office. This is almost not a joke.

      CORRUPTION

Trump moving millions into Quatar bank account … nothing to see here

If Harris did this, America and MSM would blow a gasket, and there would be a run on tiki torches.

Well he needs vast sums of cash when he flees the country. What do you think the 40 billion to Argentina was for.

    22. Careful_Trifle on

When they said it would be handled by an „internationally recognized bank,“ I knew there’d be some bullshit. That’s oddly specific wording that still says nothing, which is a core component of how they lie to their base and make everyone else churn around trying to determine what the truth even is.

Apparently Trump wants to “protect” the money from creditors, but it smells like a slush fund for whoever kisses the ring if only the Constitution had an offshore clause.
