A family friend just recently died in ICE custody; he was a substance user, and the story is that within 24 hours of his arrest, he died of withdrawal.
He was a fentanyl user; death from fentanyl withdrawal is fairly rare, much rarer than death from alcohol withdrawal for example. And when ir occurs, it’s usually the result of excessive diarrhea & vomiting that results in death in a few days. Less than 24 hours and he’s dead?
And officials say when the found him unresponsive, they decided to Narcan him. No other care was rendered.
I don’t believe them. I believe they hurt him more than just refusing to monitor his withdrawals.
Not that it justifies anything but dude was convicted of sexual abuse of a child under 11 so probably not the most sympathetic victim to point to.

Very real chance this is a daily, if not hourly occurrence in these hell holes. Illegal or not, this is as good as taking someone to a concentration camp as far as I’m concerned.
