      Honest question to further discussion:

      How differently would this content be viewed/ reacted to if it were an obviously animated (2D or 3D) aboriginal character presenting? Like if this were a cartoon or CGI series. Would it depend on the choice of voice actor?

      Or even the exact same content if it were confirmed to be created by a group comprised of, or connected to, the aboriginal community?

      Edit: I’m not suggesting that this isn’t problematic, it’s just some additional thoughts that occurred to me reading the article

      If I were a company I’d love an AI spokesperson. Never get sick, don’t need a makeup team, doesn’t go on maternity leave, doesn’t age, can change anything about them at any time, doesn’t need healthcare or wages.

      The entire notion, the concept of cultural appropriation is a dead man walking and AI will be the thing that drives a stake through its heart and thank God for that

      The more we steal from each other the more we imitate each other the better off we will all be

      As Carl Jung wisely pointed out, we all share the same archetypes. They form the basis of our civilizations, our societies. The variations are just paint, just color, just design … at root, it’s all the same stuff.

      Racists absolutely *love* being able to manufacture images and videos of minorities proving their racist points

      It’s offensive for sure, but …. what did they actually do with the content that’s wrong? I’m hearing alot about „potential“ but did they actually do anything that’s racist beyond the inherent thing of putting words into the mouth of someone whose race they are not?

      If they’d hired an actor, then all of the same potentiality would’ve been true without the glitz and glam of this being AI.

      I’m not trying to defend them. I just want to know: have they done something else that’s actionable against?

      And I’m sure I don’t have a complete count

      Sharing images of the dead is avoided by certain Aboriginal communities. An AI amalgamation which is invariably trained on such images is nuclear levels of fuckery.

      A lot of tech experts and academics raised this alarm at the beginning of AI race, about how it would result in these types of activities targeting people of color.. this is not even the beginning that has already happened with fake news stories, deep nudes, this is just the next level.
