For Albania is either Greece or Italy.

The Albanians in Turkey (almost totally assimilated since it has been more than 100 years) are mostly from Kosovo or North Macedonia

Yeah that make sense. We have a french tsunami in Québec since the start of the 2000’s. There no village or cities where you will not find a french national.

Ps : I say that with pleasure, all those I’ve met where kind and cool to speak to

I might be wrong but I’d dosent feel like its Americans in the UK

Pretty sure the UK has twice as much diaspora in Australia at 1.2m+ compared to USA having like 600k Brits.

If this means people with any amount of British ancestry, I think it’s meaningless. Americans don’t think of themselves as British, even if they think they have full British DNA, they’re not diaspora in their own view, unless I am mistaken

Aside from the million Brazilian cousins 23andme says I have, I’ve always heard about all the Portuguese immigrants in France. Immigration to Brazil is more in the past.

    9. For Ukraine biggest diaspora is in Canada with 1.2 millions. Even with occupation of Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk number of Ukrainians in russia is less than 800k, five times less than when ussr collapsed

    10. Data seems weird with multiple countries not matching what I can find with a cursory search.

Like Portugal being Brasil? Supposedly 300k Portuguese there while there is 600k in France.

France being Canada when Canada rank 4th for french diaspora is wild too.

Ragarding Czechia, if we count almost 3 million Czech/Sudeten Germans expelled after the war to Germany and Austria, then yes. Otherwise, it would have been the USA.

A diaspora refers to a population that is scattered across different regions away from its original homeland, often maintaining cultural connections to that homeland.

How more french people in Canada than usa. Didnt france had control of lousiana and new france in Usa??

I am pretty sure Canadian Francophones do not see themselves as diasporic French. They have their own separate identities.

As interesting as this is, a friendly reminder that the 2nd largest Greek city in the world is Melbourne

    16. I feel like this map is heavily skewed by Americans (often falsely) claiming various European ancestries even though it’s been diluted by 5 generations of intermingling

For Macedonia it should be Australia or Germany. I don’t know anyone who has moved to Albania, we’re all trying to leave the Balkans.

    18. For Ireland it could be uk or Australia also, and probably will be Australia in the future
