But… the states are united, so kind of apples and oranging it, arent we?

    3. I live in the midwest and there’s a war happening in my city

And Ohio is in the Midwest

Apparently a lot of Europeans on Reddit don’t realize that Ohio is the Midwest. It’s the easternmost state in the Midwest, but it’s west of the Appalachian mountains, so it’s not in the East.

And „Midwest“ is a term from 200 years ago, when the nation ended at the Rocky Mountains… So the Midwest is a lot further east than people would think.

TIL europeans don’t know what the midwest is but apparently try to act like they do.

Just to clarify, in the US the “Midwest” is basically the areas near the Great Lakes. More specifically it’s the states formed out of the Northwest Ordinance in the 18th century, before the Louisiana Purchase. It’s in the east now, but at the time it was the middle of the far west.

I’d like to see a map like this with population densities overlapping somehow.

I lived in New England while southern California was swamped in gang wars as bad as anything. Ice T made rap music about it. I listened to it. People pretended it wasn’t as bad as a „real“ war. Nobody cared. ten thousand bodies stacked up.
