    1. >Justice Department officials said on Jan. 13 there is „no basis“ for an investigation into the killing of Renee Nicole Good, the mother of three whose fatal shooting by an immigration enforcement agent sparked protests across the country.

      >“There is currently no basis for a criminal civil rights investigation,“ Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement referring to Good.

      >The 37-year-old was fatally shot on Jan. 7 in Minneapolis, Minnesota by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross, when she moved her car forward near the ICE agent. Her death has inspired widespread protests against the Trump administration’s militarized use of the Department of Homeland Security.

      >President Donald Trump defended Ross, saying it was „hard to believe“ the officer survived. Top administration officials say the controversial crackdown on immigration enforcement is necessary to root out foreign-born criminals from the country. Homeland Security’s deployment to Minnesota came in response to massive fraud in social welfare programs officials say is tied to Somali immigrants.

      >Good’s killing and widely circulated footage of the incident stirred immediate outrage. Prominent Democrats called for Ross to be arrested and moved to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. A new national poll conducted in the days after the shooting found that over half of American voters thought the shooting was unjustified.

      >Blanche without elaboration said the killing does not merit a Department of Justice investigation. Agency spokespeople did not immediately respond to requests to comment on what would provide a basis for an investigation.

      >The Department of Justice is instead moving to investigate Good’s widow, according to reporting by outlets including The New York Times and NBC News. Acting U.S. Attorney of Minnesota Joe Thompson, who was appointed to investigate the state’s fraud scandal, and other federal prosecutors resigned in protest.

so the official line is “no basis for a civil rights investigation” but video footage and local leaders are saying something totally different?? that contrast is wild and honestly makes the federal narrative feel very thin. feels like they’re protecting their own instead of actually doing justice.

The current US government is refusing to investigate the blatant murder committed by a long term federal employee towards a citizen and is trying to coverup it now.

Edit: Mods here are suppressing info as well. Blocked from posting the propublica article on illegal ICE/DHS procedure

„We didn’t investigate ourselves and found zero evidence of wrong doing!“

What’s to investigate? We’ve all seen the crime from multiple angles. It’s clear that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross reckless behavior, lack of adherence to training and disregard of law enforcement protocol resulted in Renee Nicole Good’s death and endangered the lives of multiple innocent people, including his fellow agents.

The US showing yet another sign of that it’s moving towards autocracy.

    7. This essentially the “i could shoot someone on 5th avenue” moment.

Everything is a joke until it isn’t

    8. Random_Player2711 on

Just like the DOJ wouldn’t indict Trump for the Muller report and Trump’s obstruction of justice. Is it really that surprising?

    9. Cyberpunkcatnip on

Simultaneously not investigating, and blocking a state investigation. Sounds like a cover up to me!

    10. File state charges now and indict every single sadist in this administration for murder.

    11. How is there no basis?
I just don’t get it. There were so many things wrong with it. It’s not that we investigated and found no wrongdoing. We won’t even investigate.

This is the reason DOJ is supposed to be independent.

    12. It gets worse than just not investigating the murder:

The Department of Justice is instead moving to investigate Good’s widow, according to reporting by outlets including The New York Times and NBC News.

    13. MrPloppyHead on

did anybody actually believe that this would be independently and properly investigated?

ICE are performing exactly the same role the brown shirts did for hitler but instead of jews its immigrants (non-whites really). Any pretence otherwise is delusional.

    14. RainbowandHoneybee on

Someone got killed and there’s no basis for investigation? Seriously corrupt.

    15. Did trump honestly say “President Donald Trump defended Ross, saying it was „hard to believe“ the officer survived.”

Even for him, that’s a doozy.

    16. Pending-Chaos on

So he’s guilty, they just don’t want to admit it and look like morons after they immediately blamed the woman

    17. Mr-ReDiCulouZ on

This *should* be the final straw, the thing that makes everyone realize just how evil the government is.

We have all seen the video! She was driving AWAY from the agents. They were NOT in immediate danger, and they still shot to kill.

Even the most loyal Trump supporters has to acknowledge they are lying about what happened. Meaning those who still support this fourth reich are people who are okay with the government killing innocents for no reason. Evil, despicable and hateful.

    18. It’s gonna happen again and next time it won’t be just one woman, they’ll mow down a whole line of people.

    19. I am not American and am in no way calling for violence, but at what point are the American people going to say enough of this crap and take a stand against what has become a tyrannical regime?

What happened to a government of the people, for the people, by the people?

    20. Even worse-they’re investigating Mrs Good’s widow.

Let that sink in. The Department of Justice is investigating the grieving widow of the victim rather than the person who cruelly murdered the victim.

This is the state of America’s legal system right now. Not only does it not care if an innocent citizen gets unlawfully shot by a paychopathic government agent, it will actively trouble and harass the grieving widow of that citizen.

THIS is MAGA’s definition of making America great again.

This is a signal to all ICE officers that they are free to terrorize with no repercussions. The GOP fascist finally have their own internal army

    22. Aren’t all OIS supposed to be investigated? In a previous life, I was part of a PD’s policy review team — the OIS Policy was one of the biggest in the whole manual, covering many layers/types of investigations that all triggered as soon as an officer pulled the, well, trigger.

    23. DisillusionedPatriot on

Im at a total loss, at this point. Congress isn’t doing anything to stop this, and we’re all enemies of the state. Not only is no one coming to help us, but we’re not even able to get our government officials to do it. The American people are on our own, it feels like, and things are gonna get so much worse before we’re unified enough in our desperation to push back in a way that actually starts the wheel of change rolling.

This is a nightmare, and if you dont see it, you’re probably part of the problem.
