Just an FYI as Law Enforcement myself.
I can tell you with certainty almost no other police officer I’ve worked with agrees with charging any person with self defense from a break and enter.
The problem is the Prosecutors and internal Policies of the Police Services usually mandate it. Your average officer isn’t walking into someone’s house that just got broken into and instantly arresting the homeowner, none of us agree with that shit.

The case on the Lindsay Ontario man who defended himself after a home intruder with a crossbow broke in through his little girls bedroom has now been pushed to February! Still NO charges dropped! it’s been over 6 months now and multiple court cases. I would imagine the victims legal bills must be adding up!
