Ehrlich gesagt… gut. Bei GPS handelt es sich um eine Infrastruktur, nicht um ein wissenschaftliches Projekt, bei dem man darauf wartet, dass die neue Rakete fertig ist. Wenn Falcon 9 es in Wochen fertigstellen kann, schicken Sie es.
ULA erhält später immer noch SV13 auf Vulcan, es ist also nicht so, dass sie aus dem Rennen geworfen werden. Das fühlt sich einfach so an, als würde Space Force das Praktische tun: die Konstellation gesund halten und keine Zeitpläne verpassen.

Space Force just moved GPS SV09 from ULA Vulcan to a SpaceX Falcon 9 so it can launch ASAP.

Is speed really the main reason? We are talking weeks here. GPS III was approved by congress in 2000, it’s 2026.
There are no Vulcans, or is this a problem with certification? Do we know what the bottleneck is? I can only think of the engines.
Vulcan has an old design style. I don’t see how it can compete long-term with F9, NG and all other rockets that are coming.
