Iraq’s problems have been (and in many ways still are): US imperialism and ethnical and religious diversity which unavoidably creates political instability.

What made Iraqi Kurdistan (just a bit) more developed than the rest of Iraq? I thought most investments would be in the Mesopotamian lowlands.
