We all know they won’t though and this subpoena was just performative.

Let me know when they are actually held in contempt of congress. I’m fucking sick of threats and promises of justice in some hypothetical future.
Just think about this for a minute. James Comer has been the chair of the House Oversight Committee for 3 years now. In that time, has there been a single investigation that has led to a prosecution and subsequent jail time? How many times did Comer accuse the Biden family of criminal acts, and the only indictment was a bullshit gun charge that stemmed from the special prosecutor, not the Oversight committee.

It’s easy to just say “oh he’s guilty,” but his statement does shed light on the decision. The gist of it is “it is total bullshit that you’ve subpoenaed 8 people and dismissed 7 of them without them saying a single word to you. We have tried to give you the info we have and you ignored it.”
It is a refusal to feed into the hands of an obviously corrupt DOJ. I think he’s kind of calling their bluff, and if he is guilty he’s clearly sending the message that everyone is going down with the ship. I kind of trend towards the idea that trump wouldn’t subpoena bill if bill actually knew anything important that could bring down trump or others. Blame someone you know to be innocent or mostly innocent and you can just call them a dirty liar. Trump has the power to release this and the more he delays it the guiltier he is.
