      EV are struggling to take hold in NA as we under price gas so it seems cheap and the vehicles they bring into NA are not ideal candidates for efficiency.
      We are in Europe a couple times a year and small electric or hybrid vehicles are everywhere. Here, can’t even order one. Then the options we have are back ordered for 18 months.

      Of course it is. In the long run, EVs will outperform combustion vehicles by most measures and at a lower cost to purchase and maintain. Battery technology is at or near this tipping point. Probably could have got there sooner with more government subsidies like they have in Europe and China, but it’s coming one way or another. It’s a matter of time and the auto industry knows it. That doesn’t mean everyone will accept EV’s but they will pay a premium for a combustion vehicle.

      Low gas prices, cancelling solar subsidies, cancelling EV rebates, canceling renewable energy projects, slow charging network deployment as a response, it all adds up to this artificial EV dip. If we recover and have real elections again, and the country stabilizes, you’re going to see a huge adoption rate because the cars will have progressed without us. Solid state battery vehicles should start hitting the roads in 2026 and 2027 and should change things a lot. No more car battery fires does seem nice.

      Once they figure out a way to knock them prices down and figure a way to knock down the cost of batteries , sure

      I live in Hong Kong and EVs work because Gas is super expensive ($130USD for 14.5 gallons) and our city is so small. Plus vehicle licenses for EVs r much cheaper. Then I talked to my Canadian friend and found out EVs are still more expensive and would take him 8-10 years to reap the benefits on the gas savings. He got a new gas car to at the least.

      EV will never win in NA because the infrastructure sucks, the ranges are usually terrible and the ones with good range have astronomical prices.

      I like EVs but in NA a one or two car household with only EVs is terrible. You always need an old faithful ICE vehicle. I tried doing an 8 hour road trip on one and it was terrible. Added about 5 hours travel to our trip.

      When the government is hamstringing the industry companies have to react.

      Surely the companies arent lobbying for EVs though.

      Even if the U.S. manages to turn itself around on EVs we still have to contend with the rising costs of electricity due to the tech industry’s AI addiction.

      My wife drives a newer EV while I drive a 10 year-old ICE and comparing the mileage costs of both it’s getting to the point that the EV no longer saves anything and not worth its additional price tag.
