I live in Spain and Madrid fans always talk to me about him when they find out I’m Irish.

I know nothing about football and all I ever remember is that he played in the first Clásico.

You learn something new everyday if you’re paying attention. Thanks for that OP

    3. Real Betis‘ only league title came under a Dublin manager. He later managed Barca..

Frank O’Farrell was from Cork and managed Man Utd back when they still had George Best (although there was a falling out). He got the job after getting to an FA Cup final with Leicester (lost 1-0 to Man City).

    5. Check out Luis Molowny in the list of managers. I clicked into that and sure enough a derivation of Maloney..

Thanks for the post. Been a Real Madrid fan for 25 years and never heard this

    7. That’s mad, I was only looking at the wiki earlier today to verify the ‚real‘ was a synonym for Royal and saw this

    8. Also Alfredo Di Stefano’s grandparents were from Mayo, he was eligible to play for us
