      Im starting to wonder about these statements. They cry „end of nato if this happens“ to a guy who thinks nato is irrelevant. Might as well be looking for that 1 out of 10 dentists who don’t recommend your brand of toothpaste.

      some european leadership leans toward an everyman for himself attitude when something hard comes up for one of the members. Sweden’s new, if they didn’t understand what NATO was they shouldn’t have joined and deal with the russians on their own. They joined because they are one of the countries most under threat without NATO

      Trump doesn’t like being a part of NATO—->Trump cant easily leave NATO like he wants. —> create a situation where European nations voluntarily kick US out/ disband NATO(Greenland situation)—> US no longer has NATO obligation

      He’s always stated how he wants to US out of NATO but could never accomplish it with votes so its now this way.

      Cmon, that’s a “no shit” statement. North Atlantic TREATY Organization. Obviously the TREATY portion of that acronym would be violated, and as such the organization would falter.

      That’s what Trump wants because he is incapable of considering what benefits anyone other than himself. It’s a deeply rooted mental illness and he should be removed asap for the sake of humanity

      Only long enough to get their ass handed to them in the snow by invisible Finns. Then once NATO crumbles, it will be replaced by EATO: European Allies Treaty Organisation, of which Ukraine would be a founding member with the usual European crowd, Canada, Australia and every other ally of Europe that wants to be on board and enjoy it’s protection.

      People who talk about this being the end of NATO implicitly confirm that NATO is the US plus a few alsorans. What’s the big deal, is US-less NATO really so useless?

      Meanwhile Fredriksen is gradually moving to the next logical step: continuing to threaten to takeover Greenland is also enough to end NATO. This is inevitable: if the allies say „doing this would end the alliance“ and the US government keeps saying „we don’t care what you say, we may do it anyway, and by the way the alliance is basically nonsense anyway“, then the alliance is effectively over, even if no invasion takes place.

      Hopefully the rest of NATO is making their own separate contingency plans, perhaps on EU level. I can see a big regulation effort for US banks and tech companies if any US aggression is set in motion.

      No shit. Trump is currently doing everything to reopen wounds from Afghanistan and Iraq in Denmark. (and in all other NATO countries I’m sure) He is squandering the friendship and good will so many countries have offered the US.

      Even if he doesn’t invade Greenland now, so much of the trust is already broken. Within the public that is, our politicians are still trying to play buddies.
