Impressive actor Jessie. There’s a few more awards coming her way I think.

    2. I’m delighted for her but Jesus I wouldn’t watch that if it was on my TV at home. No interest in that at all

Very intense performance , held the moments of silence with gravitas , had me gripped , hopefully she can land the Oscar

She does kind of soak up the attention in many scenes she’s in. I first saw her in the BBC adaptation of war and peace, which I really liked. She did a good job there. Understated.

As I get older I realize these amazingly talented people aren’t really ours, Irish or whatever. They are just naturally occurring human phenomenon.

Growing up in the 80s it was so important when famous person was Irish. It was a like a „look, we are real!“. We were so unconfident as a nation. Almost apologetic and unserious. We clung on to Irish success as if our lives depended on it.

But now I think we know that Ireland is as good as anywhere else on the planet and better than many. I see Jessie Buckley, born in Kerry, went straight over to England to build her career. Lives there, married an english guy. All good. Is it important that she’s Irish? Well it’s really nice that she is..but I’m glad we are not clinging to it as much..and I’m glad she’s free to explore her talent without having to stay here. And when she wins the first of her Oscars and the Brits claim her, I won’t care quite as much as I used to.

    5. Movie itself not worth the hype imo, but she deserves an Oscar for the performance for sure.
