So, he basically opted to let the Internet teach her about it. Or maybe she can ask ChatGPT questions about it. This is 2026, you can’t just keep ‚em in a barn until they’re 23.

Nice going, dad. That’s much better.

So what happens if a classmate has two mommies? Does the school have to shield his son from that?

    3. >As Hemant Mehta explains in his [*Friendly Atheist*](https://www.friendlyatheist.com/p/judge-says-school-must-shield-kindergartner) newsletter, Alan L.’s son is already on an Individualized Education Program and spends most of his day outside of his general-education Kindergarten classroom. It is unclear whether J.L. was ever actually exposed to the two books with which his father took issue — Suzanne Lang’s *Families, Families, Families!* and Alexandra Penfold’s *All Are Welcome* — that are part of the school’s kindergarten curriculum. (Eight additional books Alan L. cited in his lawsuit do not appear to have ever been used in classrooms at Joseph Estabrook Elementary, according to Mehta.)

      >Nevertheless, Alan L. sued the school and Lexington Public Schools, claiming that his son had been compelled “to participate in classroom instruction that promote[s] sexualized and ideological messages directly contrary to his family’s faith” and that he has the right to both be notified before his son is exposed to such material and to opt J.L. out of any lessons or activities that “normalize or promote LGBTQ identities or lifestyles.”

      >Louison and Gill also noted the burden opt-out demands like Alan L.’s place on schools.

      >“This is not like a student with a peanut allergy, where the implementation of an accommodation to protect the student is reasonably clear,” they wrote. “Schools are burdened enough without having to scour the pages of a storybook for potentially gay-appearing characters. At what point, for instance, is a character’s haircut too short to presume they are a woman? Are two men sitting together at a restaurant presumed to be gay, or might they just be friends? There are innumerable scenarios like these, and schools are now being forced to make near-impossible judgments.”

This is utterly ridiculous. This really highlights how cruel Christian nationalists are. They find the mere existence of LGBTQIA+ people as „offensive“ to their religion. This is why they are trying to commit genocide against us. They find our existence an affront to their religion, and they want to essentially kill us off, to appease their delicate sensitivities. It’s just ridiculous.

Supreme Court supports constitutional right to have head permanently entombed in own ass.

    5. LGBTQ+ people should countersue
About their parents‘ rights using the same logic to prevent their kids from learning about heterosexuality.

Christian nationalism is a plague to this country. No hate like Christian love.

    7. You don’t get to erase other families just because they exist outside your beliefs.

      „My religion says I can’t….“

      Fine.

      „My religion says you can’t…“

      Go fuck yourself.

Reminds me of those MAGAts that immigrated to Russia with their entire families, because they couldn’t stand how „woke“ the US has gotten, and wanted to live in a „traditional“ country such as Russia, and one of them ended up being sent to fight in Ukraine, and another got scammed out of his life savings, all because they didn’t want their kids learning that some people are different than them.

I went to a very conservative private Christian school growing up. We didn’t learn anything about lgbtq and yet somehow I’m still gay

    11. Containerstorejams on

Yet I can’t sue to keep my children from learning about Christianity which has, historically speaking, been far more destructive than homosexuality.

    12. PenAndInkAndComics on

Since conservatives cannot empathize until it happens to them, I hope some day that man will experience the intolerance he has for others and he will realize he was wrong and change his ways. Not likely, but I can hope.

    13. NatroniusPrime on

Does that mean if they inject their religion into schools, then parents can do the same with opting out of learning the bible or whatever other religion it is?

    14. Can I sue to opt out my kids from stuff involving Christianity? Like I don’t want them knowing Christians exist.

    15. If they read the bible wont they find out about homosexuality? Since God hates them and all.

    16. Does this mean I can keep my kids from having to read books with Christian characters?

    17. I hope his son finds out about this case and hates his father forever when he gets older.

    18. mrbigglessworth on

You know what I do about gay people existing? I live my life. I go to work. I take care of my family. I play Diablo 4. Why can’t these people do similar?

    19. FullyActiveHippo on

I grew up in a religious cult. Never knew any gay people. Wasn’t allowed to know about it. Guess who is still gay even though gayness didn’t exist?

    20. swarlesbarkley_ on

Well we weren’t taught jack about lgbtq or anything even remotely related to that in school in the 90s

And lemme tell ya, that did not stop my brother from being gay! Like, quite gay lol

    21. Oo, the way I would get my ass fired.

Is anyone countersuing to get the same ruling for teaching kids about religion?

Also lol at AutoMod removing this comment the first time I posted it for my „oo“ having too many Os. 😂

    22. Comparable to the rest of the world, Americans are still near last place for a developed country in a lot of social metrics. So go ahead and put your heads in the sand. The rest of the world moves on without you and your dumb offspring. Good luck.

Then take your sheltered snowflake kid out of school and put him in a place that’s just as bigoted as you are.

If you don’t like the public education your child is given because it „isn’t Christian enough,“ then fuck off to a private Christian „school.“

Can’t afford it? Pull yourself up by your goose-stepping boots and stop being poor. Paraphrasing your talking points.

PUBLIC education is to benefit the PUBLIC, not to benefit your personal vendetta to anyone not exactly like you.

Want a respectable opinion on how the public education system works? Then go get a couple degrees in education and pedagogy, and go through the credentialing programs required by your state like the public teachers do. They know what they are talking about and you do not. Suck it up and stop being uneducated, instead of getting mad at the 140,000,000 Americans who have at least a bachelor’s degree, along with the other 30,000,000 other Americans with at least have an associate’s degree. That is a little more than 50% of Americans, in case those numbers are too big for you.

Don’t like that? Again, fuck off to a private „Christian“ „school“ or homeschool your kids. You have that right and that option.

So I guess technically any of us could sue to prevent out kids from Knowing Straight people exist or that religion exists
