      What? So admins can remove it via group policy but it just… doesn’t work if the user has launched it?

      Thankfully, there’s no conditions to be met to allow the removal of Windows 11.

      I really hope this is incentive for at least a tiny number of organizations to switch to infrastructure around desktop Linux and have that model spread. Microsoft needs to be humbled. (No I don’t think this is going to happen, but a guy can dream of the downfall of bad actors.)

      I’m not sure if I’m missing something, but I thought this was already possible as of 25H2 via the new debloat Group Policy tool.

      If anyone needs directions, follow –

      GPedit.msc > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > App Package Deployment > Remove Default Microsoft Store packages from the system > Enable > select the shit you want ousted, hit apply, and OK

      I think AI companions can actually be helpful for some people, especially those dealing with loneliness or social anxiety. Of course they can’t replace real human relationships, but they can be a safe space to talk, reflect, and even practice communication.
      The key is using these tools in a healthy way—as support, not as a replacement for real life connections.

      … and this is why I -only- use windows for gaming. Everything else I do from development to creative stuff I use Linux or macOS.

      I get that Microsoft is pushing these things, like ok whatever. But let us disable or remove them when we don’t want it. It should have been a feature flag since day one.

      If Steam OS ever get a thing most gamers would shift in an instant, on the company front it’s a near impossible task to change to Linux, but they won’t be happy with the MS BS trying to harvest their informations

      I really wish my company could have stayed on Windows 10 or even Windows 7. But we’re required to have current security updates.

      Is this juat an official update or is this old news?

      I have uninstalled it and didn’t have a problem for me or my clients months ago. My copilot has been uninstalled since February when I installed my OS.

      Edition Windows 11 Pro
      Version 24H2
      OS build 26100.7462

      No registry hacks or group policy required, though we have been able to for some time to just create a 32-bit dword with a value of 1 to disable it.

      You can even remove provisioned packages using Powershell to stop Windows from reinstalling Copilot for new user profiles and during feature updates.

      My phone says I can’t uninstall the AI features because they’re „deeply embedded“ in the operating system. That’s all BS isn’t it?

      Fuck this, im gonna install my Workstation with Linux too. Work laptop has been Linux for the last five years already.

      Sounds like some feedback has actually reached someone who’s not AI. My usually tech backwards employers have started the move to MacOS across the whole org because of how bad the Win 11 experience is now. Most people and companies do not want AI integrated in everything for security and privacy reasons that can’t be addressed. We interact with it over a browser on our terms when we want to. This is too little too late for Microslop in our company but at least there’s a chance they course correct here.

      You could uninstall it manually until now. This is just to automate and deploy for sys admins.
